After about 10 years of not owning a hunting dog my husband decided it was time. It was then that we received our first Chesapeake Bay Retriever- Ruby and fell in love with the breed. We take pride in the bloodlines that we have put together and have extremely smart and trainable dogs.

We enjoy upland game hunting and upland game trials. It seems to be a nice offset to our water fowling that we enjoy. So with that in mind we decided to create a dog that could waterfowl hunt in the morning and upland game hunt in the afternoon, without premature exhaustion. It needed webbed feet to swim and love the water, it needed muscle mass to be able to pick up large birds and also to be able to run for extended periods of time. The dog need not be of large heavy stature but needed to be a little sleeker to be able to run in heavy weeds, grass, and brush.
Guess what? We did it!! Our research and experience with hunt tests and hunting led us to create a designer hunting dog with no compromise to the championship bloodlines that our kennel was founded on!

It took nearly 5 years of breeding to get a purebred dog and now we have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever crossed with an English Pointer that we call a Pointing Chessie.
What are they good for you might ask? Well, if you are looking for a wonderful pet in the house, a companion to do things with, or a super smart dog that can hunt you might want to consider a Hartwind Kennels Pointing Chessie. We believe a high standard of breeding gets a high standard of results!!
Thanks for inquiring!!
